Practical matters to remember when purchasing

This newsletter contains information about the upcoming possibility to enter quantities at all flower clocks at Aalsmeer. We also talk about Windows Vista once again, which will no longer be supported from April 2017.

Entering quantities at all flower clocks in Aalsmeer

From 30 March 2017, it will become possible to enter quantities at all flower clocks in Aalsmeer. Since December 2016 this has available at the rose clocks. From March 30 all flower clocks will be put in the so-called multi-mode state. This will allow you to continue using the current method (with space bar and via an audio link) to inform the auctioneer of your desired number of containers. In this way buyers can decide for themselves which method they prefer. Be aware that the keys on your keyboard represent quantities, and accidentally pushing one may result in a transaction. Which key corresponds to which number of containers is given in the illustration below. You can also find this information in the Remote Buying manual via this link: https://www.royalfloraholland.com/nl/inkopen/klok/kopen-op-afstand/handleidingen-en-installatie/

The Remote Buying work stations will be equipped for both methods from 30 March 2017. Do you need a sheet of stickers to mark the keys on your keyboard? Then please contact the Remote Buying Service Desk.

Multi-transaction auctioning pilot stopped

Since January last year, we have been experimenting with multi-transaction auctioning at the plant clocks in Naaldwijk. The experiment provided us with lots of information, especially about price-setting and speeding up of the auction. Now that the peak period for plants is starting again, we - in consultation with the Improving the Plant Clock sounding board group - have decided to stop the pilot from March 30. The accumulated knowledge will be transferred to The New Auctioning to aid the development of the Today for Today and Today for Tomorrow clocks.

Support for Windows Vista stops in April 2017:

Microsoft has announced that no more support will be provided for Windows Vista after April 2017. We have noted that several buyers still use Windows Vista for Remote Buying. Future Remote Buying releases will not be tested on Windows Vista.

To guarantee continuation of your purchasing process in the near future, we advise you to switch to Windows 10. If your PC or laptop is more than 3 years old, we recommend replacing it. For assistance with upgrading, contact your hardware supplier.

You can also purchase a HP Probook through our Remote Buying Service Desk. For €795 (plus VAT) you receive a HP laptop with Windows 10 installed and a Remote Buying headset in a sturdy bag. Remote Buying will be reinstalled for you free of charge.

Remote Buying Service Desk:

The Remote Buying Service Desk of Royal FloraHolland is accessible on auction days from 05:00 - 13:30.
