Plerandra elegantissima, formerly known as Dizygotheca elegantissima or Schefflera elegantissima is a species of flowering plant in the family Araliaceae, native to New Caledonia. Also called false Aralia, these plants have earned a position as an admired houseplant. They have wonderfully textured foliage, with dimpled stems and petioles and highly serrated leaflets. They also have thin leaves that grow in a circle at the stems making them look like fingers, hence also called Finger Aralia.

The young plants have more textured foliage, while the adult leaves tend to be deeply lobed and much broader. Plerandra elegantissima are unobjectionably easy to grow. They require at least modest humidity and prefer little moisture, and can tolerate temperatures down to roughly 45˚F. Full-size plants can attain a height of approximately 5 feet, but that's quite rare inside. Plerandra elegantissima leaves are thin with toothed edges, and colors vary from dark green to red. In autumn the plant has clusters of pale green flowers and black fruit.
