Leucadendron

Leucadendron, also called Safari Sunset or Safari Conebus is a vigorous genus of approximately 80 species of flowering plants in the Proteaceae family. The plant, pronounced loo-ka-den-dron, gained its name from a Greek word, l eucos which means white and dendron which means a tree, referring to the Greek silver tree, Leucadendron argenteum.

The male and female Leucadendron flowers are on separate plants. Leucadendron has green leaves with short, silvery hairs and deep red colored bracts that form on the flower head. The bracts that enfold the flower head are larger comparing to the leaves, and longer than the flower head.

Leucadendron flowers are yellow and have a somewhat faint, but lovely smell. The cone is ovoid and seeds are enclosed inside the cone and released after flowering time.

Leucadendron is a great garden plant for. Its cut stems are quite good for large arrangements and it has remained one of the longest grown and most popular species of the Proteaceae for cut flowers.

In the modern society that we live today, it has become a more viable option to buy wholesale flowers online. Flowers for all occasions can now be ordered at Astra Fund Holland BV, and delivered from the comfort of your seat.
