Anthurium

Anthurium is an herbaceous plant, native to America. It consists of 825 or more kinds from the family of Araceae. The Anthurium also named as Flamingo Flower (Flamingo Lily), or Tail Flower, Painted Tongue; and many of these are widespread foliage plants. Some of Anthurium breeds are extensively yields for the florist profession for their impressive, evergreen flowers. Anthurium’s flowers are bright-colored in texture, their covers are shiny and surrounded by a plump spike. The anthurium blossoms look uneven on the spadix as contrast to an even spadix. Shades which are found mostly in the flower are red or color of red shade.

Every part of anthurium plant is toxic and prohibited to eat or swallow.  If taken, it can cause stomach disorder as well as if its sap contacted with skin can cause skin irritation/itching. Anthurium is best grown is warm temperature and high humidity climate, they are typically developed under greenhouse environments.

 

Anthurium needs good light but avoid giving it or putting it into direct contact with sun-light. This plant needs to be moist always whenever possible as it does not bear drought at its roots. This plant grows at moderate level. Flamingo flower is the best type for keeping it at work place or in offices.
