Anemone

Anemone photo

The anemone is a plant genus that includes around 120 different species of perennials from the Ramunculaceae family. It is closely related to the Hepatica and Pulsatilla, so close in fact that some botanists include these species of pant in the Anemone genus. The name Anemone comes from the Greek word meaning 'daughter of the wind'. Anemone's have long leaf stemmed basal leaves that are either prostrate or upright. While some Anemone plants have leaves that are compound with either undivided blades or parted and lobed; others have more simple leaf structures. The flowers either form and bloom in umbels, in cymes of 2 to 9 flowers or singly. All flowers can be made up of anything from 4 to 27 sepals. The sepals can be virtually any colour and although there are nectaries, most species of Anemone lack any petals. Anemone potted plants from Holland are sold in bulk by Astra Fund and there are 37 different Anemone's available. These come in a wide variety of colours and styles including Jerusalem Purple, Gloria Pink, Mona Lisa White, Mistral Plus Orchid, Galil Pastel, Meron Blue and many more. They are ideal as decorative potted plants for your garden or elsewhere around your home.
