Lycium

Lycium photo

Lycium belongs to the nightshade family. They are shrubs, often thorny and they can grow from 1 to 4 meters. It occurs in most continents in subtropical and temperate regions. Southern America has the most number of different species, followed by North America. The flower has a bell shape and the colors vary between white, green or purple. The fruit is a juicy berry that can be red, orange, yellow or black.

It is a medicinal plant recommended as a treatment for sore eyes and inflammation. Lycium have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat conditions such as male infertility. It's also popular in western cultures for its supposed promotion of weight loss and general longevity. Lycium can be eaten raw or used in cooking. Most of the species occur in arid and semi-arid climates and a few were reported on coastal zones, which mean they can occur in saline habitat types.

A legend claims that in the past one herbalist used goji in combination with different other tonic herbs and lived for 252 years, that's why people who use it seek longevity. There's no evidence to any of these effects though. You can buy Lycium wholesale at Astra Fund Holland BV, the best flower supplier company.
