Globba

Globba photo

Globba, also popularly known as dancing ladies, is a genus of flowering plants in the family of ginger. It contains approximately 100 species, native to tropical Asia, China, New Guinea, Queensland, Bismarck Archipelago and Indian subcontinent.

What makes Globba interesting however, are its flowers. This flowering plant is popular for its impressive bracts that grow from the stem and blooms tiny and colorful flowers. Globba flowers, which launch from the bracts, gave the plant its name because they look like tiny dancing ladies.

The plant grows in tall, erect reeds that crop up from spreading rhizomes. The leaves are almost the same as lance-like leaves arranged around one central stem in pairs. Globba are understory plants that like dappled light. Indoors, they are fairly more tolerant of direct light, and will actually thrive in a shade house or greenhouse, but they don’t enjoy full noon sunlight.

It’s a wonderful feeling to seal happy moments with flowers, but it’s not always possible to visit reliable florists. In such situations, ordering your preferred flowers online is the best option. If you’ve never bought flowers Holland wholesale before, then you could be missing out a lot. There are many different flowers at Astra Fund Holland BV and each of them has a special meaning.
