Aloe

Aloe, also written Aloë, is a genus that contains more than 500 species of flowering plants. Of all these, about five are generally found in cultivation. The most popularly known species is the Aloe Vera plant, or the "true aloe", which has long been widely used for medicinal purpose for ages. Aloe Vera has a long been known to be good for the skin, mainly for treating burns.

Other species, like the Aloe ferox, also are harvested and used for similar applications. Being native to Africa and the neighboring regions, All Aloe plants are succulent, and form low rosettes of lance-shaped plump leaves or, some grow into taller, bare-stemmed plants pinnacled with 10-inch leaves.
